Manual, quick and automatic saves
Each run has 4 manual slots, one quicksave, and retains 8 automatic saves. Open the pause menu and choose Quicksave below Resume to replace that run’s previous quicksave. Saving into an occupied manual slot asks before replacing it. Automatic saving options are available in Settings → Saving.
Timed automatic saving becomes due after 48 game hours since that run’s last automatic save, then queues on a room change and writes during loading. A room change can also queue the initial save when no saves exist. Crossing the time threshold while staying in one room does not immediately write a save.
When enabled, accepting a level-up saves after applying the new level and allocations. Save on exit writes during normal exit from gameplay. Keep a recent manual save before closing the game unexpectedly; a crash or forced shutdown may bypass normal saving.
Death and permadeath
A dead hero cannot be saved. In an ordinary game, you can load a previous save after death. Permadeath deletes that run’s local manual, quick and automatic saves and records the deletion for cloud sync. Once synchronized, that run’s cloud saves are deleted too.
If another device reports permadeath or a full save reset while you are playing, the remote deletion waits until the main menu before it changes the active local run.
The game-over screen shows your hero’s name and level, followed by the fatal source and its level when applicable. Damage over time keeps its originating caster; starvation, disease or other health drain is labeled by its source rather than a previous attacker.
Offline play and conflicts
You can keep saving locally while offline. With Save & Settings Sync enabled, pending changes are retried when sync can connect again. Check the last successful sync before switching devices. A failed upload does not mean your local save failed.
Independent manual saves made on different devices are kept as separate entries, even when they use the same slot. Imported saves are marked (synced); compare their run and time before loading. Sync does not automatically replace the game you are currently playing.
Turning sync off leaves you signed in. Turn Save & Settings Sync back on before using Sync now to upload and download saves. Signing into a different Google account can upload this device’s existing saves to that account.
Deleting saves
Delete ALL saves removes every local run and ends the current game. While signed in to Google, it also deletes the connected account’s cloud saves even if the sync toggle is off. While signed out, it removes local saves only. Your settings remain.
Cloud deletion needs a connection to finish. If it fails, the pending deletion is retained and the button changes to Retry deletion. Check the status before assuming the cloud copy is gone.
Connect another device
- Open Settings → Saving and choose Log in to Google. Successful login enables Save & Settings Sync and starts a sync.
- Check the status and last successful sync on the Saving tab. Use Sync now to retry when needed.
- Sign in to the same Google account on the other device and let it sync.
- Open Load Game and choose the imported save marked (synced). Downloading a save does not automatically load it.
If the Saving tab says Google save sync is unavailable in this build, local saving still works. The main menu’s sync On/Off label indicates whether automatic sync is enabled; check the Saving tab for completion or errors.
