Tiers

Items, spells and materials come in five tiers, from Common to Legendary. The colour of an item’s name tells you its tier at a glance.

Extra enchantments: how many bonus effects a weapon, armor or jewel of that tier rolls, with their odds. Spell proficiency needed: the school proficiency a spell of that tier expects.

What tier drops at your level

Loot is rolled by item level. From each level listed until the next one, these are the odds for each tier. Item types that only come in some tiers roll among those.

Items with a fixed tier

Some items don’t roll: their tier follows their level exactly. Common from level 1, Uncommon from level 10, Rare from level 20, Elite from level 30, Legendary from level 40.

How it works

Enchantments and curses

A weapon, armor piece or jewel rolls its extra effects when it drops. Each item type lists which effects become possible at which tier, shown on its page. A negative effect is a curse; it lowers the item’s price, and a priest can remove it for a fee.

Effect strength

The tier multiplies the strength of everything the item does, from a sword’s damage to a ring’s bonus, and its price. Spells have a tier too: it sets the school proficiency they expect and how hard they are to learn.
